A Little Bit About Termites

For most Home Sellers selling their home the traditional way will require most of the time, a termite Inspection ordered by the title company or Buyer, Buyers' Representatives or Lender or government entities like (VA) involved in the sale or financing of the sale. This to ensure that the home is pests and insects, and that the structure is not damaged and the home does not present a hazard to health and safety. Reason Being, Termites are insects that causes extensive and expensive damage to the structure of a home, by eating away at the wood, or paper, and other plant material that was involved in the construction of the home. They not only cause expensive repairs but also causes emotional distress to the homeowner.

There are different types of Termites some of which are:

Drywood termites, Formosan termites but Subterranean Termites are more prevalent in the USA.and they are the worst ones to have in the home. Termites live in soil and in dark damp places, their sole job is to eat wood thereby causing rot to beams, and sills that hold up the foundations and structure of a home. They also eat away at books and furniture.

Signs of a termite infestation can be seem from piles of sawdust accumulating in a heap (like small grains of sand) at the bottom on the ground near wooden doors, wood sawdust in long chain like trail of a bronwnish color along walls (forming a tunnel) though which they travel.

How To Get Rid Of Termites:

Getting rid of Termites is best left to a professional, because highly toxic chemical liquid substances called termiticides are injected into the wood or soil where they live. Due to its high toxicity, these chemicals can affect the health and safety of people and animals. Cellulose Bait can also be used.

During New construction to prevent and limit the entry termites into a home, a metal barrier can be used around the foundation of the structure. a special barrier made of sand or basaltic rock is used. Also termites shields (metal barrier) are used mostly near the opening of utility ducts to prevent or decrease their entry into the home structure.
